John Principale

Sr. Manager , Activation

When most people picture the first days of their career, nobody envisions standing atop a shiny red Hummer in Times Square holding up a radio station banner while Carson Daly hosts TRL about 50 feet above their head. That’s how John got started in radio as a promotions intern in New York City. After three years in the Big Apple (which included drinking with Backstreet Boys, almost get punched by Britney, and “politely” being asked to leave Mariah Carey’s dressing room) John headed west to Phoenix, AZ where quickly became one of the highest rated midday hosts while also holding down responsibilities as the station’s Assistant Program Director and Music Director. Six years, two girlfriends, and one convertible later, it was time for a New York homecoming, and a new position at the CBS Altitude Group. As a senior member of the Activation Department, John has seen and done it all, whether it’s multi-station live broadcasts from tropical islands, TV shoots at some of the country’s premiere golf courses, driving a food truck around Manhattan, or flying contest winners to Europe for the experience of a lifetime!

Altitude Office: New York
Something that your co-workers do not know about you: I’m the manager of our company’s softball team!
Favorite social medium: Does yelling at slow tourists in Rockefeller Center count?
Kindle or Hardcover? Hardcover because I tend to lose, drop, and/or submerge things.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “Is it happy hour yet?”
If you got on stage during a taping of “The Price is Right”, who would you say “HI!” to? Nobody, because as a CBS employee I probably wouldn’t be allowed on “The Price is Right,” and should try and keep a low profile.
Finish this sentence: I am a badass because… I’ve got the backing of an amazing team and there is simply nothing we can’t pull off.
