New Arbitron Study Reveals Strong Radio Performance

The headline in last week’s USA Today says it all: “In a renaissance for radio, more listeners are tuning in.”

The article is a response to a recently released Arbitron study that finds that radio listening it complementing other types of media consumption. Especially amongst teens.

There’s a lot of interesting information in the recently released study, but here are a few of our favorites:

  • 92 percent of all Teens aged 12 to 17 and 94 percent of Adults aged 18 to 34 listen to radio every week
  • As compared to the March 2010 report, the number of radio listeners increased across all major demographics
  • Hispanic listeners 12 years and older continue to rise, adding roughly 1.1 million listeners, as compared to the March 2010 report.
  • In an average week, radio reached 96 percent of Adults aged 25 to 54 with a household income of $75,000 or more and a college education.
