Digital media is a huge initiative for our company. Like every CBS Radio endeavor, the first and foremost goal is to serve our audience.
In August 2010, under the CBS Radio umbrella, we launched our first CBS Local Digital media website in New York City. Since inception, CBS Local has spread to 22 additional markets that serve as the go-to local market mega site for news, sports and talk format radio stations as well as all owned and operated CBS Television stations. CBS Local websites are trusted digital destinations that provide local consumers with the most up-to-date, meaningful and relevant hometown information, news, entertainment and opinions in the top markets in America.
Within one year since the initial launch of the first CBS Local Digital website consumer interest levels have skyrocketed and we’ve seen rapid growth with no signs of slowing down. Here are some quick stats from the June 2011:
- 28+ Million Unique Visitors
- 125+ Million Page Views
- Top 5 Nationally in Local Online Media
- Every week, CBS Local (TV/Radio/Web) reaches over 60.4 Million Adults 18+
At CBS Radio we concentrate our focus on creating and delivering content that matters most to the local communities we serve, striving to transcend consumer expectations through continual investment in market research. CBS Local is the perfect medium that allows us the opportunity to closely engage community members and educate them about local news, sports, information, events, products and services.
As exciting as the past year has been for us, we are even more excited about our rapid evolution and the positioning of CBS Radio as a market leader by combining traditional media platforms with emerging technologies in 2012.
CBS Radio understands that in order to stay relevant in our ever-changing world we must be forward-looking and stay up-to-date and informed about new media’s possibilities. Over the next few weeks be on the lookout for new opportunities with CBS Local and the entire CBS Digital Network.
